Ten people are said to have been swept away by a swollen river as they attempted to cross to the other side using a lorry.
The ten were attempting to cross Muswii River in Makueni County when waves overpowered the lorry that they were using to cross and were swept downstream.

In a video that has now gone viral, the ten are seen aboard a lorry full of sand as it made its way into the waters trying to maneuver its way to the next side of the river
However, in the middle of the river, the lorry started deviating after accidentally slid into the deep end of the river and due to the intensity of the waters,swept away entirely. The ten were seen trying to jump as each tried to fight for their lives.
People who were gathered at the shores of the river raised alarm and rescue efforts started immediately with locals trying to save them from drowning.
However, at the time of publishing this article, it’s not yet clear how many people have been saved so far and if there was any casualties in the Friday Afternoon Incident.
The government has however urged kenyans to avoid risking their lives trying to cross flooded rivers as the rains continue to hit most parts of the country resulting to flooding and rivers breaking banks.

The meteorological department has also warned that the rains might go on till the new months with the department urging kenyans to move to highlands to avoid being swept away.
