The government through the Ministry of Health has announced an ending to the doctors strike that threw the health system in jeopardy over the past few months.
Announcing through their social media channels, the Ministry of Health said that they have finally reached an agreement with the Kenya Medical Practitioners Pharmacists Dentists Union (KMPDU).

The strike that lasted a total of 56 days with doctors tabling several demands to be met including salary issues will end immediately and doctors will be required to return to work as from tomorrow.
Latest developments come after the government and the health officials signed the return to work formula on Wednesday evening in line with the directive issued by the Labour Relations Court.
This comes just hours after Azimio issued a 48-hour ultimatum to the government to put an end to the doctors strike failure to which, Azimio will rally nationwide protests in support of the doctors.
“We, ask the Kenya Kwanza regime to take advantage of the 48-hour window given by the courts and immediately reach an agreement with doctors that will see a resumption of normalcy in public hospitals.”
However, the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Union (KMPDU) is yet to issue a statement to direct doctors on when they will return to work and whether all their demands have been met by the government.
According to reports however, the issue of interns’ payment terms has not yet been solved despite the two parties signing a return to work formula with the document yet to be made public.
