Okoth Obado has found a new footing in the Sharon murder case that he is accused of after a state witness claimed that the former Migori Governor is innocent of the murder.
According to the witness, Okoth Obado was at Raila Odinga’s residence in Nairobi and rubbished claims that Obado was at the scene of the murder of Sharon Otieno in Homabay.

Narrating in court, the key witness who is Investigating officer Nicholas Ole Sena said that his narration collaborates with the Safaricom records indicating that indeed Obado was in Nairobi throughout September 2-5, 2018.
It was duribg this period that Sharon was abducted and killed on the night of September 3, 2018, the night which Obado was meeting Raila’s wife Ida Odinga from 5pm to 9pm.
This comes after DNA results that were produced in court confirmed that Obado was the father of Sharon’s unborn child and the officer said that Obado was innocent of the murder and had no knowledge of the abduction of Sharon.
“The investigation was that the deceased was abducted then killed. We don’t have any knowledge or evidence that he (Obado) participated in the killing of the deceased.”
According to the investigation officer, Obado had agreed to take responsibility of Sharon’s child and after the murder, he readily agreed that he was in a relationship with the deceased.
“She wanted a house costing Sh20 million and an upkeep of Sh5 million but the governor proposed a cheaper house at Lang’ata, Makadara.”
According to reports, Sharon’s mother and several county employees knew about the relationship due to frequent visits made by the deceased to the County headquarters.

The officer noted that Obado’s wife, Hellen recorded a statement that she was also aware of the extra-marital affair between the two. Obado had told her he ended the relationship with Sharon and that he would assume his responsibility and take care of the child.
