This comes after Bertrand Munyahko, who was working in 2011 as a warehouse manager in Saudi Arabia got into an altercation with a Yemeni National during his work as a manager.
However, the situation escalated and the scuffle led to Abdul Halim’s death which subsequently led to imprisonment of the kenyan national. He was later charged for manslaughter.
Things took a worse turn when Abdul Halim’s family appealed the manslaughter decision which was then upgraded to murder leading to be executed by the court in Saudi Arabia.
This followed by the famiky demanding Ksh. 400M as compensation for “blood money” but after negotiating with Munyahko’s family, they reduced the compensation to Ksh. 150M to secure the release of Bertrand.
Through a statement by the family, they have so far raised a total of Ksh. 7 million and they are still hopeful that they will raise the remaining Ksh. 143 Million within the specified time before he faces execution.
