The government has now adopted a new strategy and issued new directive to all parents whose children study in boarding schools across the country.
Through the Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, parents can start sending students to school as early as tomorrow, Friday 10th in a bid to reduce traffic come Monday, the official opening day.

According to Omollo, the government is keen to ensure smooth resumption of educational activities amid heavy flooding that has been experienced in the country over the past few months.
“We are monitoring the situation between now and when the students get back to class on Monday and the Ministry of Education is working closely with the National Government Administrative officers coordinating that effort towards normal resumption of schools.”
Omollo said that boarding schools will start receiving students early to ensure that students will not be congested in major towns and various roads on Monday.
“So you will be seeing the movement of students, particularly for those in boarding schools happening between tomorrow and Monday to beat the challenge of movement since a number of roads are cut off and we wouldn’t like everybody to get to the roads on Monday.”
The new boarding schools directive comes moments after Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu issued a new directive that the second term will be extended to allow cover for the time wasted during postponement of school re-opening.
