Four members of one family were on Thursday killed on the spot after they were involved in a grisly road accident in Bomet.
The four family members were driving in a saloon car when it was hit by a lorry in the middle of the bridge along the Bomet-Olenguruone road, before their car plunged into a river after the accident.

Confirming the incident, Bomet Central subcounty police commander Musa Omar said that both cars were heading in the same direction before the accident.
The car was trying to overtake minutes before the accident before the lorry hit it by its side pushing it into the river. Police commander said that the family died as a result of the car submerging into the water.
Witnesses say that after the car fell into the flooded river, it was pushed a distance of 50 meters with the occupants before itbwas stopped by trees that were in the river.
The driver of the truck reportedly fled the scene immediately and police said they are looking for him to record a statement as part of the probe into the tragedy.
However, Police officers confirm that they retrieved bodies of three people, one male and two females and one body said to be a child’s body is still missing at the time of publishing this article.

Bodies of the three victims of the accident were moved to Longisa Hospital Mortuary pending investigation and autopsy. Further, the wreckage of the car was towed to Bomet police station.
