Villagers in Gitei village, Gathanje, Kiambu where Brian Chira was laid to rest have condemned the actions by his online fans and called upon a cleansing ceremony to “chase away bad spirits” after Chira’s burial.
According to reports, theburial turned barbaric after the online community showed high level of disrespect to the villagers, clergy and the family during Chira’s burial on Tuesday this week.
Villagers claim that Chira was supposed to be buried respectfully but the unrully crowd consisting of Tiktokers dubbed “Chira Clan” made it impossible even for the clergy to access the burial site for final rites for the dead.

The family has also expressed shock after hundreds of youths recklessly drunk and smoked on the burial site with most dancing, taking pictures and recording videos of their actions in a place where, normally, sadness thrive.
According to villagers who sought anonymity, their dressing, behaviour and actions go against the traditions and customs of Agikuyu community. They even blamed the youths for urinating everywhere during the burial ceremony.
“We didn’t like the way they dressed, smoked and drank alcohol in front of us. They didn’t even respect the clergy. They were disrespecting our Kikuyu traditions, and we’ve never seen that before. They urinated everywhere.”
“That’s not the way we were brought up. We’re worried about their future and how they’re going to raise their own children. It was a struggle even for the church to get access to the grave site. They don’t seem to know what they’re doing.”

Reports indicate that Chira was laid to rest next to his grandfather’s grave and the online community went ahead and stepped on them, actions that are against the Kikuyu traditions.
They also planted flowers on Chira’s grave and watered them with alcohol, actions that pissed the villagers even more. They have now called for a cleansing ceremony after the barbaric incident.
