Eliud Kipchoge has finally addressed wild concerns that arose immediately after Kelvin Kiptum’s death that led to unverified allegations towards the former Marathon World Record holder.
Kipchoge while speaking during an interview with BBC Sport, broke down on remembering the allegations that were levied against him linking him to Kelvin Kiptum’s death, saying he even received death threats.

The two-time Olympic gold medalist said that the threats he received plotted towards his family and his career in general shocked him and tore him down
“All the social media platforms were claiming, “Eliud was involved in the death of this boy.” I received a lot of bad things.” Eliud said while breaking down in front of the camera.
According to Kipchoge, he encountered death threats targeting his family, threats to do away with his investments, burning down his house and even shutting down his training camp.
Howell, the athlete dismissed the reports linking him to the death of Kiptum saying “It did not happen but that is how the world is,” Kipchoge noted. I immediately started to call a lot of people, I got really scared.”
Kipchoge added that as a precaution, he had to suspend several activities both in sports and family related activities to ensure safety for both himself and his family.

“My worst moment came when I called my mom and she told me to take care. But she gave me courage. It was really painful to learn that even my own people including my teammates expressed bad words towards me.”
