“In Eastleigh, you couldn’t build a house beyond 12 floors but I have declared that we can now build sstorey buildings of up to 30 floors so that citizens can get accommodation and live in a harmonious neighborhood.”
This statement has caused a stir among kenyans who feel that the President issued the statement at the wrong time, in the wrong place owing to the fact that floods situation is creating havoc in the country.
According to kenyans who expressed their displeasure on various social media platforms, the President should deal with victims of the floods first through relocation and humanitarian help.
“Houses are sinking because of the ongoing floods, this is not the right time to talk about building higher storey houses. Build temporary structures for flood victims first Mr. President,” one kenyan proposed.
The President also talked about Affordable Housing in Eastleigh which according to the head of state, residents will be paying Ksh. 3,000 as rent inclusive of everything.
