Several injuries and unknown number of deaths have been reported in Mathare following running battles by residents with police officers.
According to reports, chaos erupted in Mathare North following the death of one resident who was killed by a bulldozer which was demolishing structures in the area.

This comes after government directed the people in Mathare to vacate following risks they are exposed to in the ongoing flooding situation in the country.
However, the government sent bulldozers before expiry of the notice due to the seriousness of the situation that has even caused the postponement of opening of schools in kenya.
One of the bulldozers is said to have killed a resident in the process of demolishing the structures, an action that saw residents hit back at the officers who were there to ensure demolition happens.
This forced officers at the scene to shoot in the air to disperse the crowds thatbwas becoming a menace. In the process, one woman was shot during the protests.

It’s however unclear whether how many people were injured in total from the commotion and if there were casualties than the ones that were reported.
