Speaking to the press, Government Spokesman Isaac Mwaura stated that all occupants were safe after the shocking incident after visiting flood victims in Nyando, Kisumu County.
“Idriss Ahmed the Secretary General of the Kenya Redcross and I had gone to Nyando in Kisumu to deliver relief of Non-Food Items (NFIs) to the Floods Affected Persons (FAPs). We arrived home safely and we thank God for this.”
This came after several kenyans expressed concerns about the safety of the occupants on board after reports emerged that a chopper had made an emergency landing in a bush, owing to recent chopper accidents in the country.
“I am safe fellow Kenyans. Our plane had to make an emergency landing in Gishungo, Kikuyu Constituency due to poor weather conditions,” Mwaura stated after several inquiries.
According to Mwaura, the chopper could not continue with the journey given that the weather conditions were poor, affecting visibility of the pilot, hence the decision to save everyone on board.
