Daniel Ogembo was the presiding judge at Siaya High Court up until his demise today. Confirming the death, Siaya Governor James Orengo termed the death as a loss to the justice system.
“Justice Ogembo had a marvellous ability to listen intently, reflect quietly and then interject, usually with a brief few words that brought clarity in the courtroom. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
The personal driver assigned to the judge explained that his boss had complained on Tuesday that he was not feeling well despite being in the courtroom to attend to his duties as a judge.
After he dropped him home, he left and the next day which is today (Wednesday) the driver tried to call him but his calls and text messages went unanswered, therefore decided to check him in the house.
That is when the driver sought help to try and break into his house to check on him. As per the reports, the judge stayed alone in the residential property. The driver thus informed his family who rushed to the scene to open the house.
That is when they stumbled upon the lifeless body of the judge. Police Officers arrived at the scene, picked up the body to the morgue pending autopsy.
