President William Ruto has on Monday arrived in Mathare slums in Nairobi to assess the floods situation in the area and check on the victims.
Addressing locals affected by floods in Kiamaiko area, President William Ruto promised victims that they have the full support of the government and there is a relocation plan underway.

According to the President, the government is considering giving flood victims in the area a total of Ksh. 10,000 for each affected families to seek alternatives for three months.
“We have 40,000 households who were evacuated because of their safety, every household will receive Ksh10,000 to look for alternative housing waiting for government intervention.”
The money will help the victims sustain themselves for the period as the government seeks alternative and long lasting solutions for them amid heavy rains experienced across the country.
“We have a list of those who were evacuated, we will give them money for 3-month rent as the Government looks for another alternative for them and their families.”

Accompanying the President was Interior CS Kithure Kindiki, PS Raymond Omollo and his Housing counterpart Charles Hinga among other state officials in government.
