President William Ruto has appointed former West Mugirango MP Vincent Mogaka Kemosi as an ambassador to Accra, Ghana months after declining the offer.
The Head of State who made the appointment on Friday will see the former MP to take up the role despite rejecting the offer and not undergoing vetting in parliament.

“In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 132 (2) (e) of the Constitution, I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces appoint (said Names) to be High Commissioners, Ambassadors, Permanent Representatives and Consuls-General in Kenya’s Foreign Mission.”
The former West Mugirango MP joins other vetted names to proceed to their work stations abroad as ambassadors weeks after approval of the names in parliament.
This comes after Vincent Mogaka wrote to parliament on the day of his vetting claiming that he was not going to appear for vetting because he was rejecting the nomination by President William Ruto.
“This (decision to decline) has been occasioned by my personal and compelling family matters which after taking into consideration will not allow me to take up the position of High Commissioner to Ghana,” wrote Kemosi at the time.
However, current West Mugirango MP Stephen Mogaka faulted his predecessor for turning down the offer from the president and apologised on behalf of the former MP, urging the president to give Kemosi a second chance.
Mogaka said the refusal to take up the job was a blow to the people of West Mugirango Constituency, who would benefit from the appointment.

However, the MP said that should Kemosi insist on not wanting the position, then President Ruto should consider replacing him with someone from West Mugirango.
