According to reports, the non existent schools are said to be having board members, school financial accounts where the funds from the government are sent. But surprisingly, only sign posts and trees are on sight.
Kaptiony Girls Secondary School is one of such a school that has its sign post erected and a school gate constructed in the middle of nowhere with the rest of the area covered with bushes and trees.
Some Baringo residents who were questioned claim that the sign post is an indication of a school that is going to be constructed soon, an idea that was used to dupe the locals.
However, it remains unclear whether the Education ministry intends to build classrooms last or it was a pilot phase that didn’t work. However, another school, Kampi Nyasi Secondary, also a ghost school is said to have even board members.
