The Kenya National Union Of Teachers (KNUT) has called out the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) for the errors experienced in the KCPE 2023 Results. This signals the Official position of KNUT on KCPE errors.
Kisumu branch Executive Secretary David Obuon says KNEC CEO Dr David Njengere must explain to Kenyans why such happened. In addition, he must take the whole blame.
The KCPE results released by Dr Ezekiel Machogu has shown various errors and mistakes that have raised converns over the accuracy of the results. Most claiming that the rush to release the results caused the discrepancies.
David Obuon has now claimed that many pupils have been affected due to these errors. Adding that the future of these candidates is at stake due to the mix ups.

“When results were released, there was a 3-hour delay in the SMS access of results. Are parents going to be refunded for the money used yet results were not delivered? Who will refund them?”
The Secretary said that KNEC CEO should stop blaming the SMS providers and should instead take the blame. According to KNUT, Njegere shoukd be answerable to the anomalies.
The errors included same marks awarded to all students in a center making them identical. Individual candidates also complained of being awarded marks for subjects they didn’t sit for. This occurred in Kiswahili and Sign language in the mix up.
“We want KNEC to make public the formula they use for moderation. We want to know why there are particular schools where students scored the same marks in some subjects. In some schools children have scored 3% in social studies. Where on earth can that happen?” said Obuon in a KNUT On KCPE Errors statement.
Obuon now wants KNEC officials to be summoned to answer “hard questions” because its the learners’ future at stake here. This they said should happen as soon as possible for clarity.
