Being the last candidates to sit for the KCPE exams under the 8-4-4 system, candidates have raised concerns over what they termed as errors in some of their results. The errors in KCPE results have been admitted by KNEC.

Some parents have submitted reports showing their candidates withaving marks on subjects they did not sit for while others getting half the marks for insha.
A new error has however been identified in one school where all Candidates scored a mark of 75 in Science subject. Brainstar schools Isiolo posted results that showed all their candidates with one result which is highly unlikely.
In another case, a student was awarded marks in Language subject which he did not sit for. Instead of Kiswahili which was left blank. This showed a clear error from the results.

There was also identical scores that were assigned different grades and instances where candidates received higher grades for lower scores.
Additionally, another parent submitted a complain where his candidate scored highly in other subjects but scored 29 in Kiswahili. The parent raised concerns over a possibility of KNEC capturing only Insha marks and leaving out the Lugha.
KNEC has admitted errors in KCPE results experirnced by a section of candidates. KNEC CEO David Njegere said that that the issue was caused by the SMS provider. However, the CEO said that candidates have a 30-day window to get their issues addressed if any.
According to speculations, the errors can be attributed to the quick release of the exams. The Ministry of Education said was to give both parents and the government ample time to place students.
