Interior Cabinet Secretary, Kithure Kindiki has vowed to name seventeen terrorists who are engaging in terror activities in Lamu in the recent times.
Speaking at a church service on Sunday 8th of October, Kindiki said the government through the Ministry of Interior will publish names of suspects hiding in Boni forest and have continuously terrorised Lamu residents in the course of this year.
“In regards to the lawlessness going on in Lamu county, the government will use all resources to curb it, this week I will go to Lamu, and I will stay there and not just stay, it is to end the problem,” Kindiki said.
He also added that all those suspects who will appear in the gazette notice to surrender to the nearest police station, KDF camp or any chief’s camp near them. Failure to which, the full wrath of the government will descend upon them.
Kindiki said that gangs have used the religious extremism and historical injustices to plan and execute terror attacks on innocent Kenyans. In his statement, he stated, “Criminals who have been initiating killings, some are foreigners from Somalia while others are Kenyans who have sacrificed to betray the country for unknown reasons.”
Kindiki also called upon the members of public to provide helpful information to authorities that will lead to the arrest of those who have always planned attacks against the people of Lamu.
“We urge the public who have information that can help us trace between 16 to 17 criminals who have been initiating killings,”
Kindiki will make his way to Lamu where he will take to the stage to name those who he claims have been directly involved in carrying out attacks and ensure that safety in Lamu is restored and no more terror attacks will be reported.
