President William Ruto has on behalf of the kenyan government entered into an agreement with Huawei that will see digital transformation enacted. This is through various sectors by development of ICT infrastructure, promote digitization in various sectors.
The following sectors will benefit including transportation, e-government, education and digital energy. This will improve digital skils in the country that will enable kenyan youth get job opportunities.
Speaking at the Huawei Briefing Centers in Beijing, Ruto said he looks forward to a productive partnership.
“In this regard, we therefore regard Huawei as a reliable partner of Kenya in terms of improving digital infrastructure, with its pioneering strength in ICT technologies driven by its heavy R&D investment. We look forward to strengthening the partnership for more positive outcomes of ICT infrastructure construction and industrial digitalization”
Huawei’s Board of Directors Chairman Liang Hua said he is ready to work with Kenyan government to grow digital and creative economy in Kenya.
“Huawei hopes to facilitate Kenya’s development in fields like the ICT connectivity infrastructure, national data center and solar power generation. We will continue to dedicate ourselves to improving young Kenyans’ digital skills and literacy,”
Back in 2021, Huawei partnered with Safaricom to launch the first 5G network in Africa. In addition, Huawei has provided digital training to about 10,000 kenyans in the past year alone.
We hope the partnership will be beneficial and bring out the best opportunities for the kenyan youth. This will in turn boost purchasing power thus improving the economy.
