The National government has not yet released the Constituency Development Funds (CDF) that saw the members of the National Assembly bring business to a stand still demanding the release.
However, NewsProjector has determined the cause of the delay and why the National government will take time before releasing the funds to constituencies.
According to Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, the government has chosen to deal with demanding and urgent issues first.

Ichung’wah who was speaking to a local station today, said that the national government is currently prioritizing the El Nino response to save Kenyan lives before disbursement of the Constituency Development funds.
“You have to prioritise, so the government is in a position where they are looking at their cash position and asking themselves when do we start disbursing money for bursaries today when schools are opening in January or do we deal with flood mitigation measures.”
Ichung’wah said that Kenyans who have been affected by floods need the funds more because its an urgent situation. People have been left homeless and they require much needed aid. The government needs to deploy resources to also fix roads that have been destroyed by floods. This he stressed is important since the government is keen on delivering emergency food to flood victims and without those roads, help will not reach the victims.
“It is just that balancing act that the Treasury has to do and budgeting is about prioritising and knowing what comes first.”
The Majority Leader has said that the members of the National Assembly have been briefed about the entire situation and the leader hopes members will give the government time to deal with issues that need to be prioritised.
