The court has issued an update on Paul Mackenzie saying that it will free the cult leader paul Mackenzie if the state doesn’t act as soon as possible.
According to the court, if the state fails to charge Paul Mackenzie over the Shakahola Massacre, it will be forced to free the cult leader without charging him or his accomplices.
Paul Mackenzie and his associates who are on a bond have been continously been frustrated by the failure of the state to conduct their case through pushing the case forward each time.

The state through the Office of the Public Prosecution (ODPP) was seeking to extend the detention of the Shakahola suspects by another 180days, something that the court declined to accept.
However, the judge gave the state 14 days to prepare for the mention of the case against Mackenzie and his associates. Failure to which, the court will be forced to free the cult leader and his associates in the case.
It still remains unclear why the office of the public prosecution has not prepared charges against cult leader Paul Mackenzie despite the overwhelming evidence that associated Mackenzie to the Shakahola Massacre.

This comes after police officers exhumed bodies of 429 victims who were discovered buried in Mackenzie’s owned land that directly linked to the church owned by the said pastor who turned out to be a cult leader.
As the 14 days start counting, we wait for the ODPP to make a move on the case over the evidence gathered over the period of time that the suspects were held in custody awaiting prosecution.
