Following the white lung disease outbreak in China, cases have been spotted in the U.S, France, Netherlands and Denmark. Other countries like India, Hong Kong and Indonesia have set precautions to avoid a spread.
Amid calls of a US travel ban with China, Maria Van Kerkhove, technical manager for the Covid pandemic at the WHO has said that they are working with doctors in China to come up with an antibiotic.
“We are working with our clinical networks and doctors working in China to better understand antibiotic resistance, which is a problem around the world.”

Cases are increasing in Europe, with Denmark’s infection rates tripling in five weeks. However, Australian experts say that the white lung disease is attributed to Post-Covid as SARS-CoV-2 can cause pneumonia in children.
This is due to the immune dysfunction post-Covid, contributing to other infections. The mass outbreak of mycoplasma pneumoniae may result from an “immune deficit” after lifting lockdowns.
Already, the White lung disease has spread to 11 US states with cases being reported by the hour. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has released a report confirming the above.
“The increase is most notably in the South Central, Southeast, Mountain, and West Coast regions,” read part of the report.
Symptoms of White Lung Disease/ Mysterious Pneumonia.
Symptoms in children can be identified as fever, chills, cough, rapid breathing, chest pain, vomiting, diarrhea, fatigue, and loss of appetite.
Most countries in the EU are experiencing the spread of the White lung disease as countries like India, Hong Kong, and Indonesia take precautions. WHO and CDC are also on high alert following the outbreak and are monitoring the situation closely.
The Walking Pneumonia as the Australian experts call it has been linked to Covid-19 due to similarity in symptoms. However, accoto authorities, vaccines, including flu and RSV vaccines, hand hygiene, and Prevnar vaccination, are recommended preventive measures.
