Germany is on the process of opening a pathway for individuals from non-EU countries into their country. On November, the Germany Opportunity Card Requirements will be out. It works like the US Green Card is releasing the application date.
This is an opportunity for skilled workers to apply for the opportunitiesin Germany. Approximately 400,000 workers are needed to fill the workforce demand in Germany. Here’s what you need to know.
They deal with points. A minimum of 6 points are required for the application to form basis of this Germany Opportunity Card Requirements. Degree holders are assured of 6 points. This automatically qualifies degree holders for the opportunity card.
Foreign Professional qualification will earn you 4 points. This will be awarded if your foreign qualification is equivalent to a German one. Or you’re permitted to practice a regulated profession in Germany.
Good Germany language skills will earn you 3 points. This means that you need an additional 3 points to hit the minimum required points. C1 Level English langiage skills will give you 1 Point.
Professional experience is another aspect they look at. 5 year work experience on ANY career or field will earn you 3 points. This experience should be related to your degree or qualification in the last seven years. Two year experience will give you 2 Points. This will be awarded if you have work experience to your field of expertise for the last 5 years.
Age gap is a consideration in points too. Applicants below 35 years at the time of application will qualify for 2 Points. Applicants between 35-40 years at the time of application will be awarded one point.
If you have ever stayed in Germany for 6 months in the last 5 years, you automatically qualify for 1 Point. As long as Germany remains your country of residence, short breaks will alsor count.
For those married, you’ll qualify for one point if your spouse also meets the minimum required criteria. Either he/she is also applying for the card or he/she is moving to Germany with you.
There are a total of 14 points in the entire Germany Opportunity Card requirements but you only need 6 points to qualify.
Eligibility criteria demands that:
- You have no criminal record.
- Sufficient resources to support your stay in Germany as you look for a job opportunity.
- Get atleast 6 points
- Be a non-European
- Application is ONLY done through Germany Embassy
