The member of Parliament for Kiharu Constituency Ndindi Nyoro has come out to tell the former President Uhuru Kenyatta to stop sponsoring Maandamano – street protests against the government.
According to Nyoro, the opposition’s plan to spark Maandamano in 2024 is ill advised and shouldn’t be tolerated by the President. Nyoro warned Uhuru to stop threatening the government with protests.
This comes after the opposition leader Raila Odinga said that there will be a return of street protests in 2024 in what he termed as to force the government to bring down the cost of living that has now held kenyans to the wall.

However, Nyoro claims that this is a plan by former President Uhuru Kenyatta to sabotage the government’s plans through sponsoring Maandamano and Court cases in a bid to derail government projects and plans.
Nyoro called out the former President to respect kenyans who gave him ten years as president and stop using his money to sponsor cases and protests against kenyans.
He said that as the President, Uhuru sabotaged the Housing Project that was meant to create jobs for youths
“You sabotaged the programme so that your private programme called Northland City can take precedence over the Housing Project meant to help the general public.”

According to Nyoro, Uhuru used public funds and and public institutions like KENHA to build roads leading to his Northland City project.
His sentiments were backed with President William Ruto who told off the opposition claiming the return of street protests. According to Ruto, the opposition should give an alternative or better ideas instead of organising for street protests to destroy property and lives.
President William Ruto also said that it’s time to work for kenyans and kenyans should not tolerate the ideas of the opposition if they are not offering solutions to problems facing the country.
