The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has asked the Vihiga County Assembly to be patient as they prepare a court date about a raid that was conducted sometime last week.
This comes after the commision conducted an impromptu raid on the county assembly on Thursday last week over graft allegations in the county assembly and arrested two individuals of interest.
The Commission is investigating allegations of corruption in the Vihiga County Assembly including alleged embezzlement of Sh200 Million worth of Mortgage and Car Loan Funds by senior officials.

County Assembly speaker Chris Omulele hit back to the officials saying the move is a political war against the county assembly trying to paint and tarnish the assembly’s image and is no way involved in any graft allegations as claimed by EACC and no arrests were made.
EACC has however replied to the assembly saying that they should not panic and start throwing the political card and instead should wait for the court date to answer corruption charges against them.
“Vihiga County Assembly officials led by the Speaker are wondering why they are yet to be arraigned before court after the Commission undertook an investigative search in the Assembly offices and six residences of the officials on Thursday. The Commission urges them to be patient as it prepares for the court date they are seeking.”

EACC said that a search or arrest is not an end to the probe according to their investigations procedures. Therefore, the county assembly officers should exercise patience because the law will take its course.
“For Vihiga, Thursday’s search was part of an ongoing probe and when everything is complete, there will be no need for them to hold another presser to invite the Commission.”
