Education Permanent Secretary Belio Kipsang has updated 2023 KCPE/KPSEA release date. The adjustment has been done to allow the government ample time to place students in high-school.
Speaking at the Naivasha Girls during the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examination inspection, the secretary said that results will be out by November 30th
Previously, the government through the ministry of education had said that the KCPE/KPSEA results will be out before Christmas. This time correcting that decision saying the results will be out by the end of this month.
“2023 KCPE/KPSEA results to be released by November 30 to allow for secondary schools’ placement and to aid parents in readying school fees. It will also give parents ample time to prepare for school fees amid harsh economic times.”
Over 1 million candidates sat for their KCPE and KPSEA assessment, figures being 1,415,315 and 1,282,574 respectively.
Both exams were done concurrently with both starting on 30th October and ended on November 1st.
WHY THE RUSH?
Belio Kipsang has said that the results will be released to give parents time to look for school fees and plan themselves. This includes resources for fees and admission to proceeding class.
The early exam release will also give the government time to plan for the placement of pupils to Secondary schools. This will include fund allocation and avoiding placement mistakes.
The harsh economic conditions are really giving parents a hard time coping up with school fees. Therefore the ministry thought it wose to give parents room for preparation by releasing the results early enough.

The 2023 class was the last lot to sit for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education exams. This is after the government adopted the Competence Based Curriculum that is starting to take shape.
