Samia Suluhu Sacks Electricity Board: Reports from our neighboring country Tanzania indicate that President Samia Suluhu Hassan has dissolved the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (Tanesco) board of directors.
This comes after the country experienced frequent blackouts. This led to power rationing caused by reduced generation of electricity as a result of inadequate water levels in dams and repairs to the electricity infrastructure.
However, Maintenance issues that led to the dismissal of the directors and climate change-induced water shortages are said to have caused a 400-megawatt shortfall.

The move comes after a similar incident in Kenya where frequent blackouts have been experienced with no steps being taken to hold the anyone accountable amid the repetition of mistakes.
With the growing demand of electricity in Tanzania, Tanesco is hugely depended on by industries that have now decried of losses due to frequent use of generators in their production activities. This fueled the move by the Tanzanian President.
According to the chairperson of the Confederation of Tanzania Industries (CTI) Paul Makanza said beverage manufacturers operating costs shot up fivefold when they use generators instead of electricity from the national grid.

The new board is now expected to hit the targets of electricity in Tanzania and curb the pressure to reduce blackouts in the country.
President Suluhu said that she wants the new board led by Dr. Nyansaho to device immediate solutions to power problems in the country and pave way for a resilient, sustainable and inclusive energy in future.
This has had kenyans talking as to why the Kenyan government, specifically President William Ruto is not taking action on the Energy ministry and Kenya Power over frequent power outages.
