Two Members Of Parliament are reported missing after they lost direction in the flooded Tana River. The missing MPs were on a humanitarian mission before their boat lost direction and left them stranded at unknown location.
Garsen MP Ali Wario Guyo, Galole counterpart Hiribae Said Buya and a team of about 20 people (including some Members of the County Assembly) left Idsowe village at 10am for a humanitarian mission in Mlima Abo.
The occupants were reported missing after their motorboat failed to return from a food distribution exercise in Tana Delta Sub-County on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

A video has however emerged of the motorboat occupants including the missing MPs explaining that they are still alive but stranded at at unknown location. The MPs said that they were from the humanitarian mission before they lost direction at the flooded Tana River.
A Multi-agency search and rescue mission led by Kenya Coast Guard was launched to look for the motorboat occupants. But the mission has been faced by the adverse weather conditions in the area.
Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has confirmed the incident and said that the rescue operation is currently underway as they have made contact with one of the occupants in the boat.
The missing boat was expected to return by 7 PM on Saturday but failed to show up. This prompted raising of an alarm on the whereabouts of the boat and its occupants.
As at the time of this article, no additional information has been received and more updates will keep coming in as the situation unfolds..
