Two brothers are reported to have hang themselves to death on the same tree using the same rope in Kapsilibwa Village Choronk area in Sagamian Location in Narok South Sub-County.
According to reports, the two brothers who are aged 17 and 19 years respectively reportedly did hang themselves on a tree along the Amalo river.
The two are said to have committed the act after their father welcomed his long gone first wife who returned after years only for the father to give her a piece of land.

“The reason for agreeing to commit suicide was that their father had two wives and that the elder one who had been divorced many years ago returned home and the father decided to give her a piece of land.”
According to the police report, the two are said to have threatened to kill the whole step-family and their father before they decided to commit the act on the same tree.
The two are said to be notorious thieves according to their criminal records where they had been even accused of stealing items from two churches in the area previously.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) visited the area before moving the bodies to Longisa County Referral Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem and other procedures awaiting funeral preparations.
Latest data indicates there were 174 cases of suicide reported in 2020 as compared to 196 in 2019, 302 in 2018, 421 in 2017 and 302 in 2016. The majority of the victims were male, police reports say.

Most cases are reported to be caused by joblessness, death, academic failures or pressures, legal difficulties, financial difficulties, bullying, previous suicide attempts, history of suicide in a family, alcoholism and substance misuse, depression and bipolar disorder.
Kenya ranks position 114 among the 175 countries with the highest suicide rates with polics calling upon relevant authorities to address the issue.
