The Teacher’s Service Commission has announced requirements for the upcoming December 2023 promotions. Here’s the C1 Teachers Promotion Requirements.
The interviews are sent to happen on December 4th to 15th 2023 in various select areas in different sub county regions. The interviews are to fill a total of 10,819 vacancies
Documents To Present at the interview:
- The National Identity Card
- Original Academic Documents
- The letter of appointment to the current Grade
- The letter of appointment to the current post
- Analyzed individual subject results in KCPE/KCSE Examinations for the last three years. This must be certified by TSC County Directors/Sub County Directors.
- Individual Performance Appraisal Reports for the last three years, namely 2020, 2021, and 2022
- Any other relevant testimonials supporting your performance in the profession.
Standing High Chance are:
- Applicants who have previously served as senior teachers- can provide supporting letters
- Applicants who have upgraded their qualifications from PTE certificates to Diplomas or Degrees stand a higher chance of qualifying for promotion.

TPAD and the National Examination performance will be the greatest factor that the Commission will consider in the selection of successful applicants. The commission will provide a score sheet on how marks will be awarded to avoid doubts and improve transparency.
Back in August, the Commission advertised the largest number of vacancies in history with approximately 150,000 teachers being shortlisted for the interviews.
Primary school teachers who have served for more than three years are however automatically promoted to C1 from B5
All shortlisted candidates have however received their invitation letters for the interviews and are required to attend without fail.
A total of 86,000 teachers are set for promotion next year with the interview set to determine the successful applicants. The senior teacher II roles will also require a total of 700 teachers to fill the positions in special schools.
