The Teacher’s Service Commission is planning to replace over 2000 teachers interdicted from the North Eastern regions for demanding transfers from the region. TSC Replacing Interdicted Teachers is set to happen as soon as possible.
The teachers received interdiction letters from TSC for failing to show up to their work stations as instructed. The teachers who cited insecurity in the area, said that they wanted to be transferred from the region. READ: TSC Interdicts Teachers Seeking Transfers From North Eastern
Addressing the media in Mombasa during the start of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education examinations, the Teacher’s Service Commission Chief Executive Officer Nancy Macharia stated that the new set of teachers would be deployed to Mandera, Wajir, and Garissa counties.
To prevent similar re-occurrence of the go-dlow, TSC is aiming to employ qualified teachers from the North Eastern regions. This is to prevent discrimination as cited from the previous teachers working in the region. She directed teachers in North Eastern to go for letters and start working directly.
“Today, if you are a teacher in Northern Kenya, get a form from a County Education Director and start teaching.”
She insisted that local teachers will be given top priority. Although, other teachers from other regions in the country are welcomed to apply for the positions.
The CEO said that an investigation is being conducted as to why the teachers demanded transfers and a due process will be followed in their case.
However, the Interdicted teacgers remain suspended on grounds of abandonment of their duties. This will proceed as they wait for the determination of their case.
Meanwhile, the CEO said that the region is experiencing dire shortage of Islamic Religious Education and Physics. Therefore, more applicants from either the region or other parts are encouraged to apply to fill these positions.
