A Treasury Official, Evans Chirchir was found brutally murdered just days after he raised concerns for his life after exposing the Ksh 286 Million tender that was a scam at the Ministry.
According to reports, Evans Chirchir who is an employee and an official at the National Treasury was reported missing for several days before his body was found dumped in Machakos Level V morgue.
Report by Dr. Daniel Katua, the medical superintendent at Machakos Level Five Hospital claim that Chirchir was brought at the facility on the night of August 31, 2024, at 9:20 p.m.

However, despite asking deeper on who brought the body and the cause of death when the body was booked, Katua declined to provide further details, citing privacy reasons as his decision.
He however cited that officers from Kyumbi Police Station positively identified the body based on information from the mortuary’s attendants before allowing the family to transfer the body.
“As we speak, the family has obtained permission from Kyumbi police station to transfer the body to a place of their choice, presumably a private mortuary,” Katua remarked in his address.
After obtaining the required police documentation, the family successfully collected and transferred the body to Machakos Funeral Home. Accompanied by the deceased’s brother.
“A post-mortem examination was scheduled to be conducted on the body at this facility today. The family, however, instead placed a request for them to have it transfered. When they came here, we told them to come with the police.”

However, despite numerous attemots to reach the family for comment, the famiky declines to speak with the media. Chirchir’s death has been highly linked with his Ksh 286M tender scam at his place of work.
