Traffic Police officers who were manning a roadblock on Thursday at Karagita Junction in Naivasha, Nakuru County shot at the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) officers as they tried to arrest them for extortion.
The officers who are seen on camera collecting bribes from unsuspecting motorists found themselves between a rock and a hard place when the EACC officers landed on them.
However, upon realising the danger his career was in, the traffic officer shot at the EACC officers in an attempt to evade arrest.

According to a statement by EACC CEO Twalib Mbarak, the officer managed to escape the arrest. However, none of the EACC officers were injured in the commotion
“This morning the EACC managed to have a raid where we arrested three traffic officers who were taking bribes along the road from motorists. One policeman managed to escape. He was armed and tried to fire at our officers. Fortunately, there were no injuries but he managed to escape.”
Although three other officers who were on patrol with the shooter were arrested. The whereabouts of the cop who shot at the EACC officers is yet to be known as EACC is collaborating with National Police Service to track him down.
Mbarak noted that EACC Arresting Traffic Officers extorting bribes will continue across the country to fight corruption on highways as we are heading to festivities. He also proposed to the IG that traffic police officers manning roadblocks should not be armed unless its necessary.
“Our position as EACC, in coordination with the IG, is that traffic police officers should never be armed unless it is extremely necessary.”
