Online freelancing can be a good venture from outside but a demon in the inside. Most people have given up because of the downside. And they say, if you want to know the reality of a venture, talk to those who failed. Online freelancing can be a nightmare.
These jobs, famously known as gigs can be unpredictable. In terms of workload, you can go a whole day or even whole week without a job. Or with few jobs that you can’t rely on. This makes it difficult to collect a sum you can depend on fully.
PayPal is another nightmare when it comes to freelancing. You can build your money, get paid through PayPal and as the payday edges closer, PayPal notifies you that your account has been frozen/suspended. Your plans with the money collapses before you and there is nothing you can do to save them.
Local online freelancing jobs can be hectic too. From companies and institutions failing to pay to delayed payments. This makes payments unpredictable and thus you cannot depend fully on the money since you don’t know whrn it’ll be paid. Therefore late payments can be frustrating when it comes to freelancing and this can put your survival at risk.
The best example of such kind is influencing. Most people think it’s a walk in the park. But it takes resilience, patience and understanding to maneuver through the industry. Which is hard because bills aren’t patient with you. One can end up frustrated for that.
Boring is another downside of these jobs. One has to be in the house all day, all week, all month to make money. Moving from one site to another, doing research and trying to build his money. Introverts manage this pretty well but extroverts have had a hard time dealing with this.
Irregular income is another problem you have to deal with. Making certain ammount this month is not a guarantee you’ll make it next month or more. This irregular patterns of earning can be hectic as they disrupt your plans. You won’t have a chance to even make plans because you don’t know when or how much you will receive by the end of the month.
Most of freelancing jobs have peak seasons and low seasons. If you’re not good in budgeting and plan for low season when you’re in high season, you’ll face it. Low seasons have less or no jobs at all. Freelancers experience the worst drought in terms of jobs ever. Therefore you must be good in budgeting to make it in freelancing.
However, freelancing can be a good venture for youths immediately after campus or during campus. This is because then, they have fewer mouths to feed and incase of delay in funds, they can call home. Your hard work will always pay you. The more you work, the higher you earn.
