Kenya through Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has cleared the country’s name from the involvement of DRC Rebel Alliance launched in Nairobi.
The move that saw tensions rise between Kenya and DRC that led the withdrawal of ambassadors of the respective countries called back home as tension escalated.
According to the letter released by the CS, Kenya and her President did not play any part in the meeting that led to the launch of the DRC Rebel Alliance in Nairobi.

“Kenya strongly disassociates itself from any utterances or activities likely to injure the peace and security of the friendly Nation of DRC and has commenced investigation to determine the identities of the makers of the statement and the extent to which their utterances fall outside constitutionally protected speech.”
The letter also drummed support for peace in Democratic Republic of Congo and declared non-involvement in the internal affairs of the DRC.
“Kenya further affirms its non-involvement in the internal affairs of DRC and commits to continue supporting the peace, security, and democratic consolidation of the country.”

The letter comes after Kenya’s Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura set Sunday as the date for a press conference to address the diplomatic tension but later cancelled the press briefing before the release of the letter.
While launching the Congo River Alliance on Friday in Nairobi Kenya, the Congolese election commission chief, Corneille Nangaa, stated that he was looking forward to creating a lasting solution to Congo.
This was followed by the summon of the Kenyan Ambassador to Congo a few hours before the withdrawal of their respective ambassadors
