Tension is building around the University of Nairobi (UoN) after a lecturer at the University was found dead days after being reported missing by his family.
Dr Samuel Mbutu Mararo, a political science lecturer at the University of Nairobi was found murdered and his body lying on the streets of Nairobi on Monday, February 26th.
According to reports the passers-by found the lifeless body of the lecturer at the Bus Station area and transferred it to the City Mortuary. This was exactly three days after his family had reported a missing person.

Tension is building around the University as the level of uncertainty of student unrest is a possibility. However, there are reports that recently, insecurity around the svhool amd its environs is on the rise and the lecturer’s death might trigger demos by students.
The lecturer’s family had filed a missing person’s report after Mararo failed to show up at his home in Kariobangi for three days, raising concerns over his whereabouts. Three days later, on Monday, they were informed of his tragic death.
The deceased brother Joseph Wambugu had earlier on spoken to the press and had suspected that his brother had been drugged and robbed of his valuables including a laptop and his mobile phone.
He claimed that the UoN lecturer who was found dead was heading to his Kariobangi home before he was attacked by unknown assailants who withdrew money of an unknown amount through his mobile money account.

Preliminary investigations conducted by police officers have since established that the suspects fled to the Kayole area before going into hiding. A report that the investigators are working on to fish out the killers.
However, the motive behind the murder of the lecturer remains unknown as police are yet to arrest any suspects linked to the murder.
