A teacher in Garissa has been confirmed dead after he was slashed by an helicopter blade in Garissa. This comes as the KCSE exams approach it’s completion this week. Bringing helicopter accidents during KCSE to three in a span of two days.
The teacher who is a deputy head teacher met his death at Masalani in Ijara, Garissa county on Tuesday morning afyerthe helicopter blades slashed him to pieces.
Confirming the incident, Garissa county Commissioner Solomon Chesut has said that it’s still unvlearas to what the teacher was doing near the Helicopter as it took off. He described the Helicopter accidents during KCSE as unfortunate.
“There was an incident where a teacher died on the spot after being hit by helicopter propellers. We have started investigations to establish what the teacher was doing near a helicopter that was taking off. The deceased had opened an exam container at the DCC office this morning.”
Witnesses say that the teacher wanted to board the copter as he is involved in distribution of exam materials in various schools within the subcounty.
This comes a day after two other helicopters crashed in North Eastern region bringing the Helicopter accidents to three in a span of two days.

Each of the three North Eastern counties have been assigned helicopters that are helping in examination distribution because of the ongoing floods. This has made roads inaccessible and the examination body has to use helicopters for exam distribution.
However, The KCSE exams come to an end this week as various last subjects are being handled. Tight measures that havr been put in place by the Ministry have seen minimal cases of irregularities.
