Kevin Kang’ethe, accused of killing his girlfriend at the US Airport and fleeing to Kenya has been accused by the prosecution of using different tactics to delay his extradition case.
Kang’ethe who earlier this year escaped from police custody from the Muthaiga Police Station was arrested and arraigned in a case to determine whether he will extradicted to face murder charges in the United States.
However, prosecution has pointed out that Kang’ethe is using various tactics to delay the hearing and the court processes.

This comes after Kang’ethe started representing himself in court proceedings having sacked his lawyers. This made it hard for the case to proceed smoothly. However, the judge ordered him to find new lawyers.
Milimani Law Courts Chief Magistrate Lucas Onyina directed that the case be mentioned on March 1, after ensuring that Kang’ethe has successfully landed a new lawyer to represent him by then.
According to Kang’ethe, he had complained that he was being harassed and was experiencing police brutality at the Industrial Area Remand Prison.
This came after he was re-arrested in Ngong after escaping from police custody and the court ordered him to be detained at the Industrial Area Remand Prison to avoid another escape.
He argued that his lawyers did not raise the matter despite him bringing the concern to their attention. This made him lose faith in his lawyers hence firing them and starting to represent himself.

Vincent Monda, the State prosecutor, told the court that the DPP was fast-tracking Kang’ethe’s extradition. Monda added that he was ready to produce evidence to be used against the suspect in Boston.
The victim’s lawyer lamented that the suspect was using this tactic to slow down the kevin Kang’ethe extradition case to the US. He added that when extradited, Kang’ethe will be charged with first-degree murder.
