Atleast one person was killed and six houses burnt in the suspected Al-Shabaab attack in Lamu County that happened in Marafa and Poromoko villages
Police have confirmed that the heavily armed men attacked on Saturday night around 9 PM and started setting the houses ablaze. This caused panic in the villages as the assailants launched more attacks on unarmed civilians.
According to reports, the deceased was a 72 year-old man who was beheaded in the incident linked to suspected al Shabaab militants. The attackers also torched at least 10 houses. The man, John Thuo was from Marafa Village where the attackers torched four houses. This increasing the number of Al-Shabaab Attack in Lamu.
After committing such an heinous act, the attackers then proceeded to the neighbouring village of Poromoko where they torched at least six houses. They also slaughtered chicken and stole household items from various houses in the village.
At least 40 people, including security officers and civilians, have been killed by the attackers. More than 20 houses and a church torched in Lamu county between months of June and September.
The most affected areas being near the Somali-Kenya boarder in Lamu where terrorists from the neighboring Somalia cross and leave at will. They plan and execute attacks before escaping back to Somalia.

However, there are reports of some locals hiding and helping attackers unknowingly. This is by refusing to weed them out for fear.
County Commissioner Louis Rono said the attackers escaped the scene but police have launched a manhunt. He also said that Police have upped their operations in the area to tame the plans for the attacks.
