Khalwale Tells Off Orengo For Distributing Cattle
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has criticised Siaya Governor James Orengo for distributing cattle in his county by terming the action as promoting poverty.
According to Khalwale, the move by Orengo is an act of promoting poverty and Orengo should instead find ways to empower his people in a modest way.
This comes after Siaya Governor James Orengo presided over distribution of cattle to Siaya residents in a move that the governor said that will empower farmers and ensure agricultural transformation in Siaya.

“Presided over distribution of 215 improved cattle breeds to various farmers at Ragegni Primary School North Uyoma. Agriculture remains the pillar for our economic, industrial and commercial transformation. I will ensure most of our resources go towards sectors and value chains that will change lives of people in the shortest time possible.”

However, his post was met with blazing Khalwale who accused the first time Governor of promoting poverty with the move.
“My brother, sii kwa ubaya, but please stop promoting poverty. Support the farmers of Siaya to rear dairy cows.”
According to Khalwale, the governor should advise his people to rear dairy cows as compared to bulls that are only good for meat.
Dairy cows are more economical and strive to make returns to the owner through milk and calfs which will ensure that you get more and more cattle in your shed.

This comes after Khalwale was faulted for skipping President Ruto’s Kakamega tour which according to Barasa, is not advocating for development projects in the county.
Barasa highlighted what he described as Khalwale’s reluctance towards development initiatives, such as failing to utilise his position at the Senate to advocate for more resources for devolved units.
The governor has however, promised to work together with the Senator to promote development in the county
