Safaricom’s mobile transaction platform mpesa is currently experiencing downtime and netizens have come up with different Speculations to try and figure out why Mpesa is down and the platform is experiencing downtime.
According to various unconfirmed reports doing rounds on social media, the government is planning a KRA Pin integration with MPESA.
However, Safaricom is yet to release an official communication about the technical hitch but the telecommunications companuy has acknowledged the downtime and said they are doing everything to bring the system up.

This comes after kenyans reported failed transactions across the country. Kenyans complained of being unable to pay for services and businesses facing delays in the now several hour hitch.
Most kenyans took to their social media platforms to express their disappointments after the delay saying that Safaricom should make communications of possible technical issues.
Others have claimed that it’s important to carry cash in a cashless economy for moments like these due to monopoly of mpesa that can lead to technicalities at any time.

However, tens of kenyans have posted pictures while stranded at various businesses for failure to pay due to the Mpesa downtime. This has been a shocker due to the downtime lasting for hours since the first report was made.

Safaricom addressing the why Mpesa is down issue has said that they are working on the issue and ensure that they will avail a solution in the shortest time possible.
