On his first day on his visit to Nyanza Region, President William Ruto offered the people of Siaya the goodies they wanted to hear. The President launched various projects and promised more during his tenure as he rubbished the “shareholders” claims that has been popularised by his Deputy.
The President started with the ground breaking of the Urenya Level Three hospital in Ugenya and during his address, he said that the cabinet has already approved the additional 4Billion Shillings towards the Lower Nzoia Irrigation project. These funds will be used to restart the project and run it forward.
“Katika baraza la mawaziri on Tuesday, tulipitisha Ksh.4 billion ya mambo ya Lower Nzoia project hapa, ambayo itatusaidia kupanua ardhi ambayo tutatumia 10 acres tuweze kuzalisha mchele na mpunga vile Governor Orengo. Hiyo project tulishaweka Ksh.6 billion, haikutosha, tumepitisha another Ksh.4 billion so that we can complete that project in the interest of food security.” The President said.
The President also promised 50 million towards the health kitty in Siaya at the Urenya Level Three hospital and can be elevated to level 4 immediately the construction is done. He also added that his government will also commit 30 Million towards the ongoing rice mill at Sirowo, Alego constituency.
“Tayari tumeagiza mbegu mpya ambayo itawasaidia kuzalisha pamba katika sehemu hii. Nitaweka pesa ya kuweka ginnery hapa Ugenya, na vile Governor ameniuliza pale kwa rice mill, ameweka pesa, nitamwongezea Ksh.30 million tuweze kukamilisha hiyo mradi ndio tuhakikishe ya kwamba watu wa hapa ambao wanazalisha mpunga watapata mahali ya kufanya processing,”
He also said that the government will construct eight modern markets across Siaya to promote trade in the county. He added that in the matters housing, the parcels of land to be used in the construction have been identified for the construction of 5000 units in Bondo and other regions are to start by December this year.
