Matatu Overturns; Several passengers and road users plying the Embu-Nairobi Highway have been left shocked after a matatu full of passengers overturned along the route.
According to reports, the 14-seater matatu was heading Embu when it veered off the road and landed in a ditch landing in an upside down position, with several passengers trapped in the process.
However, there were no casualties reported, only injuries from the impact of the accident, with viral pictures and videos showing the matatu in an upside down stature that left passengers shocked.

Reports indicate that the accident took place at Kambiti along the Nairobi-Embu highway after the matatu lost control and rolled several times before landing into a ditch.
Witnesses reveal that the 14-seater matatu was attempting to overtake another vehicle when the driver lost control of the matatu. Preliminary reports also indicate that the driver was over speeding prior to the accident.
However, the Kambiti area is regarded as a blackspot over several accidents that have taken place in the same spot. Recently being a matatu that also rammed into an oncoming lorry while attempting to overtake.
The incident comes just hours after five people lost their lives in a grisly accident along the Likoni-Kombani road in Kwale County. The five were said to be on a motorbike at the time of accident with only one survivor.

Confirming the incident, Coast Regional Police boss George Sedah said the five hit a stalled vehicle from the rear and the deceased were taken to Kwale Hospital Mortuary for identification and autopsy.
