President William Ruto has today defended his foreign trips claiming they are for the country’s wellbeing. Speaking during a church service in Uasin Gishu, the President said he has heard some people making noise about his trips.
Speaking about flying to 45 different cities, the President said that the trips have had the desired impact. According to him, the trips were meant to create jobs for the youth and so far so good.
The President also added that he will be flying back to Saudi Arabia in three weeks time. This he explained is to cement bilateral deal that will be aimed to secure jobs for kenyans. A total of 350,000 kenyans will benefit from that trip, said the President.
“Last week, I was in Saudi Arabia and they told me they are looking for 350,000 people to work there. They told me that Kenyans are the most hardworking. I will return (to Saudi) in another three weeks to sign a bilateral labour agreement. Some people have been questioning why I keep travelling out. I am Kenya’s chief agent tasked with planning how Kenya will move forward.”
The President went ahead to give statistics on the success of his trips on job creation. “Germany, the President was here and told us that they have slots for 250,000 youths. In Canada, I sat down with their team and they assured me they have similar vacancies. The US has similar vacancies.
He went ahead and said that he wants to unveil 1 million jobs to counter the lack of jobs among the youth in the country. This action he says must be deliberate. Adding that the affordable housing project will also help in creating more jobs.
However, the Head of state had cut civil servant’s budget to a tune of 11 Billion. This he said were funds previously used in bench marking conferences and workshops. Critics are wondering if he did cut the budget for other leaders for him to get enough for his foreign trips
