President William Ruto has ordered Kiptum’s wish to be fulfilled seven days before burial
On Thursday, President William Ruto sent experts to the late Marathon Record Holder Kelvin Kiptum’s home to start the process of fulfilling Kiptum’s wish.
According to reports, President Ruto ordered experts to build a three bedroom house for the late athlete’s family within seven days. This he says must happen before the Kiptum is laid to rest.
Kiptum’s burial is set to happen on February 24th and President Ruto is expected to oversee the handing over of the house to Kiptum’s widow and children before the deceased is laid to rest.

In a race against time, the engineers are set to start building the structure on Friday (today) and will be on course to ensure its completed within the stipulated time.
The team sent by the President met with Kiptum’s family on Thursday to discuss how the house will be built and whether the house should be constructed at Kiptum’s father’s home or on land the athlete had bought.
This comes after Kiptum’s wife, Asenath Jeruto claimed that Kiptum’s wish was to build his family a house which according to her, the husband had already drafted his architectural plans for the dream house which was approved by the county government.

“We had very many good plans with my husband. Even in April, I was to go with with to the Rotterdam Marathon. The house was to be done in June and we planned to move out after that. He also had plans to open a business for me because I am a stay-at-home mom.”
This also comes after the Cabinet pledged to ensure that the athlete is given a befitting send-off following the accident that happened earlier this week.
