President William Ruto has held the fiest cabinet meeting for the first time since the onset of Gen Z protests across the country.
Reports indicate that President Ruto issued new directives at the Cabinet Meeting and for the first time said that the government will take decisive action against police officers who violated the law by causing harm to peaceful protesters.

According to President Ruto, legal measures will be taken against the police officers found culpable of harming peaceful demonstrators during the recent protests.
“On any officers who may have acted outside the confines of the law, the Cabinet said they will be dealt with by legal procedure and by the institutions mandated to do so.”
However, President Ruto also commended police officers who acted professionally against the protesters, pointing out that most officers acted in the right way in very difficult circumstances.
President Ruto and the Cabinet also called for action against those who have committed heinous crimes of arson, looting and robbery, among others, saying such atrocities must not go unpunished.
The head of state also revealed that the peaceful protests was also infiltrated by criminals who went ahead to rob and destroy both public and private property and the government will hunt them down at whatever cost.
President Ruto also directed security agencies to work and ensure that sponsors of criminals who disrupted peaceful protests including politicians and other non governmental organisations under investigations.

He also said that National Treasury is reorganizing and re-adjusting the budget to accommodate the new reality. Some of the measures will include substantial budget cuts.
