President William Ruto has changed his tune on Ford Foundation months after accusing the American foundation of being behind the protests in the country.
The change of tune by President William Ruto came after the Head of State met with Foundation President Darren Walker during his second trip to the United States this year.
After publicly bashing the foundation, President Ruto has changed his stance and applauded the foundation for its contribution and support in critical areas such as democracy, global economic reforms, and climate action.

“Kenya appreciates the Ford Foundation’s commitment to safeguarding our democracy and supporting Kenya’s calls for reforms in the global economic institutions, climate action, and modern technology regulation.”
This comes after President Ruto placed Ford Foundation at the center of Gen Z Protests accusing the organisation of funding organisers to fuel the protests that rocked the country.
Even after Kenyans expressing their dissatisfaction in high living costs and controversial government policies, President Ruto insisted that the “anonymous, faceless, formless, and foreign-sponsored” were funded directly implicating Ford Foundation.
In a fiery address, the President threatened to take action against the so-called external forces, warning that he would “deal” with those undermining Kenya’s stability at the height of accusations against Ford Foundation.

Even though the accusations lacked merit and were not substantiated, the Ford Foundation avoided giving any direct response to President Ruto’s accusations and today’s meeting saw President Ruto change tune on his earlier outburst against the foundation.
