Raila Odinga has hinted on the possibility of the return of maandamano in what he termed as “the right to call on the people to take steps that we deem necessary to force the government to lower the cost of living.”
Addressing the media in a statement after the discussion on the bipartisan report that tried to cause havoc in Azimio, Raila has said that they were clear as a coalition that they will support the document only if it addressed the cost of living.
This comes after Raila and the Azimio brigade called of street demonstrations to give dialogue a chance. This led to the creation of the Bipartisan Committee that was to address concerns of the kenyan people.
Raila has said that the opposition is deeply disappointed in the lack of success of the core issue that led to its formation; the High Cost Of Living.

Even though the government was adamant on adding the cost of living to the table for discussion, Azimio insisted that lack of it will lead to failure to go to the table. But that seems unfulfilled as the two teams did not agree on anything substantial on how to reduce the high cost of living.
“We made what believed were reasonable proposals on how to address the rising cost of living. But the government side flatly refused terming it their exclusive business and further arguing that they got the mandate of Kenyans to execute their Kenya Kwanza economic agenda.”
Therefore, the ODM party leader has said that the coalition will “engage kenyans in the coming weeks because the cost of living is unbearable.
The former Prime Minister also said that the burden of school fees and other entanglement in the Education sector will be unbearable in the coming weeks.
According to his statements, after the failed dialogue and the bipartisan talks failing to address the key issue of cost of living, there is a possibility of the return of maandamano. That’s the only way Odinga will “force the government to lower the cost of living”
