Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has been advised to resign before the Impeachment motion is tabled in parliament and possibly passed to kick him out of office.
Various leaders led by Prof Makau Mutua, have taken to their platforms to advise the Deputy President after recent developments showed that over 280 Members of Parliament have already appended their signatures to support his impeachment motion.
According to Makau Mutua, Impeachment is a Political Death Penalty to any leader and Gachagua should make a bold decision to save his political future by taking the humble pie and resigning before the motion is passed in parliament.

“My free advice to Rigathi Gachagua, please RESIGN before you are IMPEACHED. Impeachment is a political DEATH PENALTY because it LUSTRATES one for life barring you for life from EVER holding ANY public office in the Republic of Kenya.”
This comes after Kimilili MP Didmus Barasa revealed that already 280 MPs have signed in support of the Impeachment motion surpassing the number of MPs (177) needed for approval by the Speaker to be tabled in Parliament.
“I will present the impeachment motion on the floor of the House. I will submit the 280 signatures to the Speaker’s office. It will then be up to the Speaker to consider the motion next week and communicate its receipt, after which I will do my best to advocate for it on the House floor.”
