One Kenya Coalition leader, Raila Odinga, announced plans for a more robust opposition against the government’s unpopular policies once the festive season concludes to push against the government.
Speaking at St. Peters ACK in Nyamira, he rallied Kenyans to brace themselves for challenging times ahead as he spearheads the campaign against these policies in the coming year.
Avoiding extensive details due to the setting’s festive nature, Raila criticized the government’s tax hikes, condemning the increased burden they’ve placed on Kenyans. He highlighted the officials’ lack of effective strategies to alleviate living expenses.

He emphasized on the counterproductive nature of taxing an already struggling populace. According to him, excessive taxation could lead to tax evasion and reduced revenue collection.
Earlier, factions within the Azimio-One Kenya and Kenya Kwanza coalitions disagreed on Raila’s role in advocating for a reduced cost of living. Despite this, the ODM leader stressed the importance of forgiveness and compassion in line with Jesus’s teachings, advocating for healing and reconciliation within Kenya, urging the nation to move past bitterness and animosity.
Raila likened the country’s current state to a misguided path, emphasizing the need for collective sacrifice, drawing parallels to the sacrificial nature of Jesus Christ. In the spirit of the season, he generously shared bread and made donations at his late father’s residence, extending warm wishes to the people.

Additionally, Raila announced plans for the upcoming 30th death anniversary of his father, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga, scheduled for commemoration in both Bondo and Kisumu. He detailed the planned church service and memorial lecture, intending to honor Jaramogi’s legacy.
Accompanied by notable figures including Senator Oburu Oginga, Governor James Orengo, and MPs Opiyo Wandayi and Samuel Atandi, Raila’s stance against the government’s policies was echoed by Governor Orengo, highlighting Kenya’s economic disparity compared to its thriving neighbors among the fastest-growing economies in Africa fueling the push against government.
